Council urged to act over inhumane use of spikes to deter homeless

Metal spikes outside London flats

Council members in London are being called on to look into the installation of metal studs to deter homeless outside a Southwark luxury development, as reported in the Guardian on June 8. Mayor of London Boris Johnson has also called for the studs to be removed immediately. Homeless advocates are urging councillors and communities to focus on the root causes of homelessness, rather than trying to deter homeless from sleeping outside.
